Abstract
As the world accelerates toward electrified transportation, the synergy between rechargeable batteries and EV charging infrastructure becomes critical. The 18th Int’l Rechargeable Battery Expo – BATTERY JAPAN 2025 – is the premier global stage for battery technologies, but the event also increasingly highlights the entire EV ecosystem, including charging equipment. From February 19 to 21, 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight, Shanghai MIDA EV POWER CO., LTD. (Booth E54-20) will present not only its advanced lithium-ion battery systems but also a complete portfolio of AC charging piles, DC fast chargers, and high-efficiency power modules. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the company’s background and its three core product families, demonstrating how MIDA EV delivers turnkey energy solutions for electric vehicles and energy storage.
BATTERY JAPAN is the world’s leading exhibition for rechargeable batteries, raw materials, manufacturing equipment, and battery management systems. The 2025 edition – the 18th – is expected to host over 1,500 exhibitors and 70,000 visitors from more than 30 countries. While batteries remain the core focus, the rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs) has made charging technology a recurring theme. Visitors increasingly demand integrated solutions: a battery provider that also supplies smart, reliable, and cost-effective charging stations.
Shanghai MIDA EV POWER CO., LTD. (MIDA EV) has seized this opportunity. Originally a specialist in EV power batteries and stationary storage, the company has expanded into the EV charging equipment market. Today, MIDA EV designs and manufactures AC slow chargers, DC fast chargers, and the modular power units that drive them. At BATTERY JAPAN 2025, the company will unveil its latest charging products alongside its battery systems, offering a one-stop shop for EV fleets, parking facilities, utilities, and home users.
Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Shanghai’s Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, Shanghai MIDA EV POWER CO., LTD. has grown from a battery pack assembler to an integrated clean energy technology enterprise. The company holds IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 certifications, with a dedicated R&D center of 60 engineers. Annual production capacity exceeds 2.5 GWh for battery packs and 30,000 units for EV chargers.
MIDA EV’s traditional strengths lie in lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) and NMC battery systems for electric buses, commercial vehicles, golf carts, and residential storage. In 2022, the company established a new division – MIDA Charging – to leverage its power electronics expertise. Today, MIDA offers a full range of AC and DC chargers, from compact home units to high-power public fast chargers, all integrated with the same BMS and cloud platform used for its battery products.
Japan presents a unique opportunity. The government’s Green Growth Strategy aims for 100% of new car sales to be electrified by 2035, requiring a massive expansion of public and private charging infrastructure. Yet, many Japanese parking lots, apartment complexes, and small businesses still lack affordable charging solutions. MIDA EV’s value proposition – high quality at competitive prices – directly addresses this gap. Participation at BATTERY JAPAN 2025 marks the company’s official entry into Japan, with plans to obtain PSE certification for all chargers by mid-2025.
1.At booth E54-20, MIDA EV will dedicate four interactive stations:
2.AC Charging Pile Station – live demonstration of a 7 kW and 22 kW home/office charger.
3.DC Fast Charging Pile Station – a 60 kW floor-standing dual-gun charger.
4.Power Module Showcase – cutaway model of a 30 kW liquid-cooled rectifier module.
5.Battery + Charger Integration – a 15 kWh home storage system paired with an AC charger, showing how solar-charged batteries feed EVs.
The following sections describe each product family in detail.
MIDA EV’s AC chargers are designed for residential, workplace, and destination charging. They convert grid AC power to the vehicle’s onboard charger input (typically Type 1, Type 2, or CHAdeMO depending on region). All MIDA AC piles comply with IEC 61851 and SAE J1772 standards.
The MIDA-Home 7kW is ideal for Japanese condominiums. It supports V2H (vehicle-to-home) readiness via a firmware update, allowing bidirectional energy flow if the vehicle supports it. A built-in energy meter measures consumption for billing or self-consumption optimization.
This model targets small businesses, hotels, and EV fleet depots. At the booth, MIDA will demonstrate how two vehicles can share the 22 kW total – for example, each receiving 11 kW when both are plugged in.
A new concept for the Japanese market: the MIDA-AC/Storage 7kW. This unit combines a 7 kW AC charger with a 2.5 kWh LiFePO₄ buffer battery inside the same housing. The buffer battery stores cheap overnight electricity or rooftop solar power, then discharges to charge the EV even when grid power is limited (e.g., to avoid demand charges). A small LCD shows state of charge of both the buffer and the connected EV.
DC chargers bypass the vehicle’s onboard charger, delivering direct current directly to the battery. They are essential for public charging, highway service stations, and commercial fleets. MIDA EV offers a modular DC charger platform from 30 kW to 240 kW, all based on standardized power modules.
At BATTERY JAPAN, MIDA EV will demonstrate a real-time charging session using a 60 kW unit powering a Nissan Leaf (via CHAdeMO) and a Tesla (via CCS2) simultaneously, showing dynamic power distribution.
For highway corridors and high-volume fleet depots, MIDA offers scalable ultra-fast chargers. The 120 kW unit uses four 30 kW power modules; the 240 kW unit uses eight modules, allowing N+1 redundancy.
A unique product for remote areas or event charging: the MIDA-Solar DC 60kW. It combines a 60 kW DC charger with a 200 kWh LiFePO₄ battery container (20-foot) and 60 kW solar inverter. The system can operate completely off-grid, recharging its battery from solar or grid when available. At the expo, MIDA will present a scale model of this system, targeting Japanese islands and rural resorts.
MIDA EV designs and manufactures its own high-frequency switching rectifier modules, giving the company complete control over cost, efficiency, and reliability. These modules are not only used in MIDA’s own DC chargers but are also sold to other EVSE manufacturers as OEM components.
The module features a digital signal processor (DSP) control with interleaved Vienna rectifier topology, reducing harmonic distortion (<5% THD). It automatically adjusts output voltage to match EV battery requirements, supporting both low-voltage (200–500V) and high-voltage (800V) platforms.
For smaller DC chargers (30 kW, 45 kW) and portable chargers, MIDA offers a 15 kW module with the same voltage range but half the power and smaller footprint: 150 × 350 × 85 mm. Weight is only 5.2 kg. This module is also used in MIDA’s upcoming portable DC charger (20 kg unit with 15 kW output) – a product targeted at roadside assistance and small workshops.
At BATTERY JAPAN 2025, MIDA EV will give a sneak peek of its next-generation MIDA-PM 40kW GaN module, using gallium nitride transistors. Expected efficiency >98.5% and power density of 50 kW per liter (twice the current density). Commercial availability is planned for 2026. A live demo will show the module running at 40 kW with passive cooling only (no fan), dramatically improving reliability and reducing maintenance.
Visitors to booth E54-20 can see a transparent “charging stack” – a 120 kW DC charger cabinet opened to reveal six 30 kW modules (five active, one redundant). The stack includes a power distribution unit (PDU) and a system controller. MIDA will explain how modules can be replaced in under five minutes (hot-swap) without shutting down the entire charger – a critical feature for high-uptime public charging networks.
All MIDA AC and DC chargers connect to MIDA ChargeNet, the company’s proprietary cloud platform. Key capabilities:
At the exhibition, MIDA will offer a live dashboard showing demo chargers at the booth and a simulated remote site in Shanghai.
MIDA EV’s greatest strength is the seamless integration of its three product families:
At the booth, a live demonstration will show: a 15 kWh MIDA-Home battery (charged by a simulated solar array) feeding a 7 kW AC charger, which in turn charges a small electric scooter battery pack. All data is displayed on a unified dashboard.
